• binkd for DOS

From jokker@77:1/100 to All on Sat Feb 22 10:33:28 2020
So I managed to get the lastest binkd source building for DOS last night. Hopefully it's stable enough and works better then the 0.9.8 binary I've been using for the last while.

Once I get things cleaned up, experiment with some compiler flags I might try and push it out to the general public. I'm sure someone has been fervently waiting for a new binkd for DOS! :D

Now I can get back to writing that mail reading door for QBBS. A SysOp's work is never done it seems, even more so now when I have write all the damn software I need. LOL

People will be beating down your door for it I say. All kidding aside, there are quite a few sysops out there running DOS based bbses and I am sure a lot
of them are running older builds.

Funny you mention OS/2 as people in the BINKD fidonet echo are currently complaining that the latest source won't compile in OS/2.

Will have to catch up on this after I get out of the salt mines late tomorrow morning. Just got off 1.5 hrs ago & have to be back for a 5 hr shift in 10
    hrs.

Was FTP'ing into someone's system last week & they had tons of old BBS software...including FD 2.02. Used to run that & was the 1st time I'd seen
    that in many years.

I have several of the old Simtel CD sets online, as well as one Night Owl
set. They have a lot of old BBS and fido stuff... some of it is packages I have heard of, and some of them I had never heard of, even back in the day
when they were being maintained. Still not as much as I have seen other
places online. IIRC, there is somewhere that has at least one copy of just about every old school BBS software I have ever heard of, including some
    with source code.

I wish I rememeber the name of that site!

99% sure it was TBBS, I always remember logging in and it was referred to

I know lots of people have various collections of bbs goods. I think someon
    e
should make an effort to try and collect all of these things into one place
    .

I was able to mooch the entire TBBS archive before it was taken
    off-line.

You got that available somewhere? I'd love to mirror it to ftp.fidonet.io.

Yes, its on a CD-R buried in the bedroom closet amongst other goodies.

I'll dig it out when I get a chance and make it available.

So I managed to get the lastest binkd source building for DOS last night. Hopefully it's stable enough and works better then the 0.9.8 binary I've been using for the last while.

Can you build it for my apple watch so I can run a point node on my wrist and never be without Fidonet. While you are at it, maybe P4 integration with Siri so that I can thump P4 sections to those unholy people in Fidonet that might suggest change by just using my voice or a suggested reply entry.
