Come Monday morning, we here in Toronto are back to a lockdown.
Maybe I will end up giving Bezos enough money to buy a yacht again.

I think that we're gonna have this virus till we're all vaccinated
Portland, Oregon has initiated a 30-day 'freeze'. She called it
something newthis time, 'a freeze'... and I tell ya one thing; its not being enforced atall, and Americans have decided - they don't care.
Toronto is quite a large city, it you add in the suburbs around us you are looking at 6 million people. It's really hard to keep something like this at bay without locking things down.
I think you are correct. Until their is a vaccine or we reach herd immunity, will never see the other side of this.

I think that we're gonna have this virus till we're all vaccinated - it seems Americans won't try to keep it at bay. In my experience, in my
city of Portland, Oregon...
It's a shame that people don't take the basic precautions that public healthofficials are virtually begging for.

I just wish people would follow some basic restrictions. A lot less peoplewould have died.

We restarted ours on Monday. The general populace of Washington once againproved how fucking daft they are by immediately panic buying and hordingtoilet paper once rumors of the lockdown hit over the weekend before, despite the lockdown not actually, in any way, impacting their ability topurchase toilet paper normally. Morons.
I give everyone else the same exact courtesys that I wish I could expect fromthem. In America, there are TONS of folks who refuse to 'believe'
that this isan issue.... so, I'm stuck. I try to be as safe as I can,
with still.. living. And I feel like I do more mitigation that the
majority here.
I can't help but to agree. Here in Seattle the majority of people are makingtoken efforts (wearing masks, etc.) but I'd bet money that most
will still gettheir families together for turkey day next week despite warnings from the CDCand others. Anyone who has been looking at the numbers recently should alreadybe concerned, but it seems like skipping
a minor holiday one year is too muchto ask for most people. I expect to see the curve shoot even high up in thenext few weeks, sadly.
I recently made the decision to skip a trip to Ohio for normal family Thanksgiving. It sucks, I live in Portland without a tribe here... but
my mother is 73 and lives with my sister. I just don't think its worth
it.

Probably for the best. There will always be more Thanksgivings and Christmases.

Yea, frank... I know. But also, it sucks knowing that I'm not gonna have anawesome Thanksgiving feast.
I'm legit either thinking that I'll cool a small thing with this lady friend ofmine, or I'm seriously gonna find some place around Portland
that offers freeThanksgiving dinner for anyone in need. I'm in need. I want my turkey andgravy. :P

For Canadian Thanksgiving, which was last month, we got one of those smallfrozen turkey breast rolls and cooked it. We had the rest of our family on thebig screen TV via Zoom. Although not like having everyone together, it was anenjoyable evening. We even played some games via Zoom. frank // netsurge
I'm sure it's the same for you in OR, but around here in the Bay Area almostall the resturants are offering a takeout version of the standard thanksgivingdinner. That's what we're doing. I ordered ahead and
should be able to pickit up on Thanksgiving day.
You could also do the "Whole Foods" Thanksgiving Dinners, but those tend to getsold out real quick. Costco also has a Thanksgiving Dinner that looks decentavailable in their deli chiller near where they have the rotisserie chickens.
Hey, how does one put Zoom up on a big screen like that? I have iPhones, imac, linux and iPads... AppleTVs on the TVs; and just havent used Zoom a lot - inwhich way do you get the video ON the TV?
I Screen Shared my MacBook Pro with the AppleTV and the used a USB
camera andput it on top of the TV so that it had a nice wide view of the room.
I swiped a few PTZ mics from the office, a small mixer and a USB audio
DAC tomake sure everyone could be heard.

My wife went grocery shopping again and messaged me a picture of the
paper product shelves being completely empty. Lot's of chicken, beef and fish but no ass paper. Morons.
Exact same situation here. I really just don't understand the impulses
of theherd. and although that annoys me at times, I'm good with it. :)
