(this post could have gone into the scifi chat echo, it really was a toss up)

I must admit, I have been a Supernatural fan for quite a few years.
What began as a great supernatural monster of the week TV show quickly developed into some crazy mythological season long arcs.

15 Seasons of various Arc-Angels, Lucifer, Cain (of Cain and Abel
fame), Death, Angels, the son of Lucifer and even God himself. The more
absurd the story line, the more I seemed to be drawn to it.

Alas, 15 years of Supernatural is finally coming to an end. Without any spoilers, they wrapped up the major story line last week and will be
airing their last episode later this week. For a show that has been
known to provide lot's of fan service, including an episode where they
go to an alternate reality where they are the actual actors who play
the characters right to being sucked into a Scooby Doo episode with the
gang, I can only imagine what we have in store for the finale.

If you haven't given the show a chance, it's a great show without
taking itself too seriously.

I've never watched Supernatural. But it seems to me, based on what I know, that it might be similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer... which I loved. Kind of a querky tongue-in-cheek take on supernatural occurances.... Am I off base?

Pretty close. Same style show but they take themselves a bit more seriously than they do on Buffy. They do offer some great fan service to the viewers with a few meta episodes and even a musical.
