    Hey Frank,

Are you still providing a usenet feed?

I wanted to bring Sportsnet back to life (there seems to be some interested), and I thought it would be great to gate some sports related usegroups.

(I know a few who have tried to contact Bill without luck, but if he resurfaces, I would be giving it back to him if he wanted it...)

Is this something that you can (and willing to) provide?

I would only be gating sports related ones to SportsNet.

That's funny because yesterday I emailed Dan asking if he would be
interested in getting SportsNet going again after I saw Bill's domain had expired and pretty sure that he wasn't coming back. Good timing. I'm now
hooked up with him. I'm also looking for a usenet feed so please let me
know if you manage to find one. I know Avon on FSXNET is offering feeds for free and I think Nick Andre is but a small fee. I'm probably going to setup with Avon but would like a 2nd peer.

    Howdy,

Yeah, there seems to be a bit of interest in having it back, so I thought I'd kick start it :)

Actually, Dan might work out something with a usenet feed - so I'm going to let him run with it for now. I thought Frank was making usent available as well (which is why I was originally asking) - have you checked with him?

I know Paul can provide usenet, and if Dan cant get something going, I might have a try - but I would probably feed from Paul as well. So while I may have a play with usenet myself, we'd have the same source(s) - not sure if that would help you?

Sure, quite possibly. I'm always happy to peer if I can get multiple feeds. I'll be running the usenet server from the house, I have 500mb/s FiOS and tons more disk space than my VPS based BBS. I've been thinking of bringing it "in house" but I'd have to upgrade to business service and that's a bit more expensive to get 2 ips. (It's actualy a block of 5) plus they don't offer ipv6 so I'd have to rely on an ipv6 tunnel through HE.

Following... I'd likely be interested in joining SportNet if it
can be revived. I currently auto-post to the Fido echo 'NHL'
(hockey) with an RSS feed, and could provide that to SportNet also
if desired. It's about 8 msg/day in volume.

Its revived and up and running. And yes, that would be awesome.

Did you have a node before? If so, netmail me your details, and the passwords you want to use, and I'll get you up again.

If not, grab (the old) info pack here, and send me an app.

    Yup.

    Good to know :)

Actually, I wasnt expecting you to anything other than feed it to be - however was easiest (and probably via inn)?

In the meantime Dan has access to a feed somewhere and is looking into something, so for this, I may not need anything now. But thanks for getting back to me.

No worries. I can easily feed it out via nntp.
