This is probably a pie in the sky request, but is there any chance that mystic could track the read/unread status of individual messages instead of a date pointer?
Alternatively, Thunderbird doesn't have this issue when using the built
in mailer, but as g00r00 had previously stated it doesn't really fully work. I am unable to properly send replies, and thunderbird gets
confused on message numbers, and if you click on a message you are not guaranteed to be reading that message and not a cached previous message.
I use the global personal scan in my login process, but if I read the messages that are directly related to me then any message in that echo prior to that is marked as read. So I have taken to saying 'No' to
Newgroups do not have a "To" field so I think Thunderbird tries to reply by e-mail if I remember correctly.
The message numbers should be the same if you're not packing/renumbering your message bases. Thats a temporary fix until I get around to
revamping the news server.
You can tell it not to update your last read like that during a global scan by using the /NOREAD option in the message read, new scan or quick scan.

Yeah that seems reasonable
Oh hm, yeah it was more like if i opened message 1, it was message 1
from a different echo. I am packing nightly too, that may be part of it.
I think some readers will have an options like "Post followup" that work more like a reply that we're used to on the BBS.
I will try to make it a point to get that stuff fixed up and I'll test with the newsreader you're using to be sure. The readers I generally
use I don't believe have the same problem because of the way they handle message IDs. But regardless it is a fault on the Mystic side that I need to rework. Maybe I can get some time tomorrow to take a look at it.
